As was mentioned, this is a Jew's Ear or Wood Ear, Auricularia auricula-judae. The (Jelly) Brain Fungus is Tremella mesenterica, and is a translucent yellow. Both are edible, though, I recommend blanching them, then slicing them and either pickling them with vinegar and soy sauce, or adding them to soup or stir fry.
